Why should I use the Pantone® book in Printing?

Since we started our printing business, we learned the importance of using Color Books. One of the well-known color standards is the Pantone® system. They provide standardized color solutions, trends, and tools for various creative disciplines and markets.

Here you can find why in our print shop we use and recommend to our customers use the Pantone® system for all their artworks.

  1. The main reason to use the Pantone Color book is the color consistency. When you make a design using any color standard or Pantone® system, the color reproduction is more consistent from the first to the last printing product.

"That’s why this is a graphic design essential. It gives designers a set of standardized colors to use as a guide, and each color is identified with a unique Pantone number." - Envato Elements

2. Using standard color book or Pantone® system on your design allows printers to reproduce exactly the color you have on your artwork. Sometimes, our customers expect to see on their printings the same color they see on their computers. If you use on your design Pantone® solid colors, the digital printers can handle them perfectly and the results are very precise. We strongly recommend to graphic designers use the Color Books on programs like Adobe Illustrator for logo or brand designs.

3. One of our essentials as a printer provider is the Pantone® formula guide. This guide shows to our customers how look some solid colors on "Coated" or "Uncoated" material. Also, the guide shows color equivalents between Pantone (solid colors) and other color systems (process colors) like RGB and CMYK.

4. Are Consistency and Color accuracy necessary on all print jobs? The answer is no. However, our customers have the benefit to get a free printed proof for their jobs no matter if they bring us a short or large print run. Sometimes you need to evaluate how important is the precision of the color and the price or turnaround time. Also, we calibrate the printer with the media we are going to use in order to achieve the best results for our customers.
